Our new reading specialist
Welcome, Darralyn Left Hand, to the team.
To begin, I would like to introduce myself as Chaawaakii BaalaaxaadaaKoosh, a name bestowed upon me by my late great-grandfather, Larry Plainbull, which translates to “one sings prayer songs.” My name is Darrelyn Lefthand, and I am a member of the Crow tribe. I am a child of the Big Lodge Clan and a Greasy Mouth. I grew up in Pryor and attended Pryor Public School until the 8th grade. I graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. I recently obtained a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in literacy and an endorsement in English as a New Language from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, exploring, reading, writing, and watching basketball.
The academic path I followed throughout my life was profoundly shaped by the influences of my parents and grandparents. My decision to follow in their footsteps was a natural progression. Education is my passion, and I take great pride in being able to serve as a role model for my students. My choice of career was also influenced by my own experience of being in my students’ shoes at one time. Having a comprehensive understanding of culture, the language, and an awareness of life outside of school allows me to relate to my students on many different levels. I am thrilled to join Pryor Schools and eager to support the students, teachers, and community. Aho!
